The
Werewolves of London
The Werewolves of London was founded by Mike Dwyer in 2002 as part of
Streatham Youth Hockey Club in London, England. Mike has been involved
with Special Hockey since 1994 when his son, Iain,
played for the Grand Ravine Tornadoes and for Team Canada in the first SHI
tournament. Mike attended the first SHI board meeting in St.Louis
in 1995 - the only guy present not representing a team.
Since then, Mike has made up for this shortcoming - he founded the New York
Raptors in 1996 which, in turn, inspired the
founder of the Albany Cougars in 1997. Mike returned to his home town in London, England in 2001 to start all over again
with the Werewolves, assisted by his eldest son Charles, the Werewolves Head
Coach. Mike is not confident that he could face another move
anytime soon!
The Werewolves of London is a non-profit programme which provides an
opportunity for developmentally disabled children and adults to particpate in
the sport of ice hockey. Non-skaters are welcome.
The Werewolves of London practice at Streatham Ice Rink in South London from September until May and are
scheduled to host the SHI Annual Tournament in England in 2006. For more
