Thanks to CBC Sports/Hockey Night in Canada and Kelsey’s Cheers to Hockey Contest some lucky residents will get to experience the “Ultimate Hockey Party”on February 12th. The photo contest was to highlight the “ultimate hockey moment in your community.” North Bay North Star Manager Sharon Fung submitted a photo of team member Terry Larivee receiving his tournament medal from Michael Liotta, president of Special Hockey International (SHI) at the annual tournament last year in Orangeville. Terry is 64 years old and scored his first goal at the tournament, a very happy occasion for all who know Terry. Terry was thrilled to receive honourable mention at the tournament banquet.
Sharon Fung was notified last week that the photo was the grand prize winning entry chosen from all entries across Canada. As a result Sharon receives the “Ultimate Hockey Party”. This party will include 100 friends, family, team members and team supporters at Kelsey’s restaurant in North Bay. The party will include live music, food, games, activities and an appearance by Peter Puck. February 12th is also hockey day in Canada and the party will be featured on national television on Hockey Night in Canada. The prize package also includes four all expenses paid tickets to any broadcast NHL game in Canada.
“It’s very exciting” said Fung. “I have never won anything like this before”. I’m sure it is going to be a lot of fun. As for the game, I’m trying to decide where to go and I’m thinking an Edmonton vs Calgary game might be kind of fun. Of course Terry is coming to this game as well!
